We’re working like mad to pull together the most unique exhibit the airport Art Gallery has ever seen, and you’re about to get a sneak peek.
Opening Tuesday, June 7th, the exhibit features the history of the Asheville Regional Airport and its place in culture through the decades since it first opened in 1961.
Here are some teasers to pique your curiosity. Enjoy, and be sure to stop by to explore the exhibit!

I remember going to the new Asheville-Hendersonville in the 60′s to watch planes land and take off. I was there the day that President Nixon visited Asheville in the early 70′s. Happy Birthday AVL.
I hope you give credit to Billy Wolcott. He almost single handily built it.
I worked at the airport for Piedmont Airlines until their City Ticket Office was ready in the Flatiron Building. We flew the Martin 404s and Fairchild 27s in those days before the jets. No computers or printers – reservations taken by phone and we handwrote the tickets.
