Accounting

Accounting Administrator

The Greater Asheville Regional Airport Authority (GARAA) is seeking an Accounting Administrator. This position reports to the Director of Finance and Accounting and responsibilities include various accounting functions as well as maintaining the Authority’s automated accounts payable and purchasing systems and payroll functions. Position also processes bi-weekly payroll, prepares daily bank deposits and posts journal entries into general ledger system. Public Safety

Public Safety Lieutenant

The Greater Asheville Regional Airport Authority (GARAA) is seeking a Public Safety Lieutenant.  This position is responsible for supervising and carrying out the duties and requirements of the Department of Public Safety by overseeing shift operations, including Airport Police, Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting, and emergency medical requirements for the Asheville Regional Airport. Position assists Public Safety Captain in planning and supervising Airport police and aircraft rescue and firefighting activities.   Supervises and instructs Public Safety Officers (PSO), on a rotating shift basis, and carries out PSO duties. Confers with Public Safety Captain regarding performance evaluations and disciplinary action. At least 3 years of experience in law enforcement and firefighting. At least 2 years of experience in an Airport law enforcement setting is preferred. May be responsible for acting as the highest ranking representative of the Authority during after hours, holiday and weekend time periods until relieved. Salary range is $41,500 to $58,000. Public Safety Officer

The Greater Asheville Regional Airport Authority (GARAA) is seeking a Public Safety Officer. Responsibilities include aircraft rescue and fire-fighting (ARFF), emergency medical response and law enforcement. This position requires working well in an emergency situation and must exercise independent judgment, discretion, and initiative in completing assignments and handling difficult public contact situations requiring considerable tact and knowledge of airport policies, procedures, and programs. Information Technology

Director of Information and Technology

The Greater Asheville Regional Airport Authority (GARAA) is seeking an outstanding individual for the position of Director of Information Technology.  This position is responsible for the development, planning, implementation, and administration of the Information Technology, Telecommunications, Physical and Cyber Security and Shared Use networks and programs for the Greater Asheville Regional Airport Authority.

This position ensures the network and system infrastructure, servers, firewalls, routers, switches and components are accurate and efficient pertaining to network usage, security and government regulations.  Position is a member of Senior Management Team and assists in short and long range planning of IT items within projects as well as providing financial data.

A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science is required.  Applicant must have a minimum of 5 years professional experience in a management level capacity.  Three or more years of experience in airport and or governmental environment preferred.  Must be able to communicate effectively, both written and orally, with internal and external business relationships, including Board members, Authority employees, government officials, tenants and the general public.

Operations

Director of Operations and Maintenance

The Greater Asheville Regional Airport Authority (GARAA) is seeking an outstanding individual for the position of Director of Operations and Maintenance.  This position is responsible for directing and managing airport operations, maintenance and custodial activities of the airport, and ensures compliance with all applicable Federal Aviation Administration rules and regulations.  This position oversees operation of the Airport Communications Center and ensures direct support for all organizational departments.  Responsibility includes monitoring of airfield lighting, equipment maintenance, airport grounds, and buildings condition to ensure effective and efficient operations.

This position communicates with other Authority staff, tenants, and local and federal government representatives to discuss and clarify problems, report progress, or confer on a plan of action.  Position ensures departmental compliance with all applicable FAA, TSA, USDA, NCDENR, EPA and other requirements.

A Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Airport/Aviation Management or a closely related field, or, in lieu of the education requirement a sufficient number of year’s work experience is required.  Applicant must have a minimum of 10 years work experience at a public airport, at least five of which were in a relevant management or supervisory position.  Must be able to communicate effectively, both written and orally, with internal and external business relationships, including Board members, Authority employees, government officials, tenants and the general public.

Operations Specialist I

The Greater Asheville Regional Airport Authority (GARAA) is seeking an outstanding individual who can maintain airport compliance with Federal Aviation Regulations (FAR) Part 77 and 139, Transportation Security Regulation (TSR) Part 1542, and all other applicable statutes, regulations and requirements and ensures the safety and security of all airport users. This position, with supervision, will assist in dispatching, communications, airport badging, and duties performed in the Airport Communications Center and Airport Operations Center. Responsibilities will include performing airport inspections and other operations functions. Also, this position will coordinate with the Maintenance department on airfield repairs; airfield lighting; janitorial; maintenance of main terminal and grounds, parking and ground transportation.

 A Bachelor’s degree in aviation management, business administration, or a related field is preferred; or in lieu of a degree, a minimum of two years of work experience at a commercial service airport performing functions of a similar nature. Starting salary is $36,000 and includes a competitive benefits package. Starting salary based on qualifications. This position requires a detailed background investigation. Custodial

Custodial Technician

The Greater Asheville Regional Airport Authority (GARAA) is seeking an individual for the position of Custodial Technician. This individual performs routine work in cleaning of all airport facilities.  This position performs work involving cleaning and janitorial services.  Work involves the use of a variety of cleaning tools and cleaning agents.  Work includes the performance of routine, established tasks such as cleaning restrooms, collecting garbage from garbage cans, restocking restroom supplies, and cleaning offices.

Completion of high school or equivalent education required.  Experience working in the custodial field is preferred.
