This position exists to manage the staff and programs to comply with Transportation Security
Administration (TSA) and other federal, state, and authority regulations for the Asheville
Regional Airport (AVL). Supervises and directs the work of Badging Specialists and oversees
their professional development and goal achievement. This position manages the Airport
Security Program, ensures compliance with TSR Part 1542, acts as the Primary Airport Security
Coordinator, and serves as primary contact for the Federal Security Director and the lead
Transportation Security Inspector. Serves as the back-up to the Airport Operations Manager in
their absence. Under emergency situations, reacts quickly and calmly to protect persons,
property, and ensures compliance. Requires effective skills to lead and motivate a diverse staff,
exercises considerable independent judgement and initiative, and maintains effective working
relationships with stakeholders and the public.

Pay: from $63,500. This is an Exempt position.

The Greater Asheville Regional Airport Authority (GARAA) is seeking an individual for the position of Project Manager. The position involves managing and coordinating various aspects of airport facilities planning, design, construction, and operation, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations and adherence to FAA standards and the Airport Master Plan. Some responsibilities include overseeing the design and execution of Capital Improvement Projects (CIP) and conducting technical analyses, such as interpreting FAA guidelines and regulatory documents. The role encompasses project programming, construction management, and contract administration, including preparing bid documents, monitoring progress, inspecting work quality and materials, and maintaining comprehensive project records using specialized software like CAD, GIS, and Bluebeam. Additional duties include assisting with budgeting, grant applications, and regulatory compliance, while also contributing to environmental planning, stakeholder outreach, and emergency response training and exercises. The position requires a Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of five years of relevant professional experience, an Associate’s degree with equivalent work experience, or equivalent experience in lieu of a degree, emphasizing leadership, technical expertise, and customer service skills.

The Greater Asheville Regional Airport Authority (GARAA) is developing a team of Airport Telecommunicators.  This team is responsible for providing communications, coordination, and dispatch functions to facilitate airport operations, including emergencies, through a centralized communications center. The Airport Telecommunicator promotes situational awareness and facilitates collaborative decision making. Performs skilled work, including telecommunications, customer service, dispatching emergency units, and relaying emergency and non-emergency information. Operates and monitors communications equipment, such as radios, telephones, access control, cameras, computers, and building systems. Must be able to assess situations quickly and objectively while determining the proper course of action within established rules, regulations, and procedures while representing the Airport Authority in a professional and positive manner.

Schedule:  Rotating shift assignment with a team to cover a 24/7/365 schedule.  This includes days, nights, weekends, and holiday work schedules. Shift assignments are subject to change.

Pay: from $21.00 per hour. This is a Non-Exempt position.

On a shift schedule, the Public Safety Officer is responsible for the combined duties of aircraft rescue and firefighting (ARFF), emergency medical response, and law enforcement. Work requires the performance of hazardous tasks under emergency conditions which may include strenuous exertion. This position requires working well in an emergency situation and must exercise independent judgement, discretion, and initiative in completing assignments and handling difficult public contact situations requiring considerable tact and knowledge of airport policies, procedures, and programs. Performs other duties as assigned by the Public Safety Chief, Deputy Chief, and/or on-duty Lieutenant.
