Asheville Regional Airport surprises passengers with a special National Yoga Day experience

(Asheville, N.C.)

Passengers made the most of their time at the Asheville Regional Airport (AVL) with a National Yoga Day surprise, presented while they awaited boarding at their gate. AVL partnered with locally-owned Namaste in Nature to bring travelers a taste of yoga on the go.

Passengers enjoyed participating in the health and wellness experience, as Namaste in Nature owner Miranda Peterson led them through a series of seated yoga movements that are convenient and beneficial while traveling. The airport also said, "thank you for flying local" with fun trivia questions, themed giveaways and healthy snacks.

"We know that our growth is the result of our community's commitment to flying AVL, so it is always fun to surprise passengers and thank them for flying local," said Tina Kinsey, Director of Marketing, PR & Air Service Development. "This partnership with Namaste in Nature presented the perfect opportunity to share our appreciation and engage with passengers in a unique and memorable way."

The event concludes the first year of AVL's passenger appreciation program. As a way to thank passengers for flying locally, the airport partnered with a wide variety of western North Carolina businesses to surprise and delight passengers in the terminal throughout the year, and looks forward to continuing this popular program.

Asheville Regional Airport is one of the fastest-growing small airports in the country, with 19 nonstop destinations served by six airlines. The airport just celebrated its fifth consecutive record year of growth, has experienced 14 consecutive months of double-digit growth, and surpassed one million passengers in 2018 for the first time in its 58-year history.
