Asheville, N.C. -
Asheville Regional Airport is celebrating two years of Paws for Passengers (that's 14 dog years)! Paws for Passengers is a special airport program in which therapy pets and their handlers interact with passengers and visitors at the airport.
On July 22, 2019, the airport celebrated two successful years of the Paws for Passengers program — and the wonderful volunteers and "ambassa-dogs" who make this program great — with a colorful birthday bash!
"The Paws for Passengers program has been a wonderful enhancement to the passenger experience at AVL; it has brought delight, comfort and smiling faces to passengers and visitors at the airport for two years now, " said Alexandra Bradley, Brand and Experience Manager at AVL. "This program has grown from about 10 volunteers to twenty-five fun and furry teams. The laughter and smiles were priceless at our second birthday celebration, as we watched passengers of all ages receive an extra sweet welcome to Asheville."
More information about our Paws for Passengers program can be found at flyavl.com.
All pet therapy dogs are trained and certified by either Therapy Dogs, Inc. or Pet Partners, both national organizations committed to training, testing and certification, regulating, insuring and registering pet therapy dogs and their handlers so they are prepared to visit public places.
