(Asheville, N.C.) American Airlines is growing and will serve more nonstop routes at Asheville Regional Airport (AVL) than ever before this summer. The most recent additions include new summer seasonal service to Austin, Texas (AUS) and Miami, Fla. (MIA). American has also added more frequency to several routes this summer, including: Chicago, Ill. (ORD), from Saturday-only to daily service, and Dallas-Ft. Worth, Texas (DFW) from two to three daily flights. With these additions at AVL, American now flies nonstop to nine cities, including daily flights to major connecting hubs.
Service to Austin and Miami start early June and are currently scheduled to operate through mid-August. All flights will be operated on an Embraer E-175 regional aircraft equipped with 76 seats in a two-cabin configuration. Tickets are on sale now.
With the addition of these new routes, American will operate a record of 17 peak day flights at AVL.
“We are so pleased to see American Airlines continuing to grow in western North Carolina,” said Lew Bleiweis, A.A.E., Executive Director of the Greater Asheville Regional Airport Authority. “American has committed significant resources to serve passengers who fly to and from AVL, and has truly recognized that Asheville and our greater region is a popular leisure destination in the U.S. I thank American for their continued partnership.”
"As people look forward to summer travel, American Airlines is making it easier than ever to take to the skies with friends and family by providing customers more choice, convenience and flexibility than ever before," said Brian Znotins, American's Vice President of Network Planning. "New and expanded seasonal service from Asheville builds on our promise to offer customers the industry's best network, providing easy access to even more popular destinations."
