We're gearing up for an exciting summer as the country celebrates 250 years. Enjoy this summer travel season and check out some helpful travel tips to make your trip as spectacular as the Fourth of July sky.
🌭Arrive Early: The early bird eagle gets the worm hotdog. It is recommended to arrive at least two hours before your flight's boarding time. If you are traveling during busy times, like the Fourth of July holiday week, you may want to give yourself even more time. This allows for flexibility in case of traffic on the way to the airport and gives you plenty of time to find parking, check in, get through security and find your gate. If you have extra time, AVL has some enjoyable amenities available in the North Concourse.
🦅Plan Ahead: Like George Washington, pave the way by planning ahead. Before you leave for your trip, know that AVL's website is a source of valuable information including terminal and driving maps, information about parking, and resources for ground transportation. There are even helpful FAQs to help answer common travel questions. These resources can relieve stress the day of your trip.
🗽Pack Smart: Despite being freedom-filled and BBQ-bound some items, like fireworks and lighter fluid for grilling, can't be brought on a plane at all. And others, like some sporting equipment and liquids over 3.4 ounces (sunscreen or bug repellent), will need to be packed in a checked bag. Use the TSA What Can I Bring tool to see what can fly and whether it needs to be in a checked bag or carry on.
🎆Use Technology: While the Declaration of Independence is written on parchment with a quill pen, the technology to go paperless will serve you well at the airport. Instead of carrying around a paper boarding pass you can check in online or via your airline's app and use a digital boarding pass on your phone. This will allow you to automatically receive updates about your flight including gate changes or other information.
☀️Pursue Happiness: Unexpected things can happen while traveling. Don't let this rain on your patriotic parade. Stay hydrated, grab a snack and enjoy the journey.
