The holidays are quickly approaching, which means another busy travel season is upon us. Use these important travel tips to have a magical journey through AVL:
🎄ARRIVAL: Hang the stockings by the chimney with care but be sure to arrive at the airport at least two hours before your boarding time. This will allow you time to park, check-in and get through security.
🦌 NO WAITING ON THE CURB: Be like Rudolph and keep that sleigh moving! If you are picking up passengers, please be aware that waiting on the curb in front of the terminal is prohibited. There is a complimentary Cell Phone Lot located across the street from the main airport entrance that can be used for waiting.
⛄RENTAL CAR DROP OFFS: Save time by taking the shortest route. Instead of using the main entrance and going down Terminal Drive, use the airport entrance to the south (near the Marathon gas station) and follow signs for rental car drop off.
🍽️ PICKING UP AND DROPPING OFF PASSENGERS: Give your friends and family the gift of a smooth drop-off or pick-up. Passengers can be dropped off at the north end of the terminal, outside of the new ticket lobby area. Passengers can be picked up in the same location or at the south end, past baggage claim.
🎁RIDE APP PICKUP: Pickup for ride apps (like Uber and Lyft) and taxis are located in Shuttle Lot South. This lot is located to the south of the terminal and can be accessed by complimentary airport parking shuttle (recommended) or via sidewalk (approximately a 10-minute walk). While you wait for your ride, you can debate whether or not Die Hard is a Christmas movie.
🛷PARKING: 🎵All we want for Christmas is yoooouuu🎶...to have the best experience possible. Live parking numbers and a map of our parking areas are available on our website to help you make a parking plan before you arrive. If all primary lots are full, proceed to lots A, B, or C as available.
🍪 LOOKING FOR THE SHUTTLE? The Polar Express doesn't stop at AVL but our shuttles will get you where you need to go! There are two shuttle stop locations for the AVL Parking Shuttle (which service our Daily and Shuttle Lots) on the front curb. Check out the map to see the most convenient location for your journey.
🎅 REAL ID: You may have sent Santa your wish list, but don’t forget that you will need a REAL ID-compliant driver’s license or other acceptable form of ID (like a passport) at the security checkpoint. This is something Santa can't deliver, so visit tsa.gov for more information.
🕯️FLIGHT STATUS: Sip your peppermint mocha or hot chocolate and keep an eye on your flight status by downloading your airline’s app or checking directly on your airline’s website. Be conscious of any delays, gate changes or other updates.
❄️PACK SMART: Make sure your snow globe is in a checked bag! Check out the TSA website for more information about the 3-1-1 liquids policy and the "What can I bring?" tool.
