Fall has arrived and the busy fall travel season is underway.🍂 Check out these helpful travel tips to make your next flight through AVL smooth and stress-free:
⏰ARRIVAL: Arrive at least two hours before your scheduled boarding time. This will allow you plenty of time to park, check in and get through the security process.
🚗PARKING: Live parking numbers and a map of our parking areas are available on our website (flyavl.com/parking). Make a plan for parking before you arrive at the airport. If all regular lots are full, proceed to overflow lots A, B, and C as available.
🚫 NO WAITING ON THE CURB: If you are picking up passengers, please be aware that waiting on the curb in front of the terminal is prohibited. There is a complimentary Cell Phone Lot located across the street from the main airport entrance that can be used for waiting.
🚘PICKING UP AND DROPPING OFF PASSENGERS: Passengers can be dropped off at the south end of the terminal, where the new ticket lobby and TSA checkpoint are located. Passengers can be picked up at the south end of the terminal OR at the north end, past baggage claim and the covered walkway.
🚎RENTAL CAR DROP OFFS: Instead of using the main entrance and going down Terminal Drive, use the airport entrance to the south (near the Marathon gas station) and follow signs for rental car drop off.
🚕RIDE APP PICKUP: Pickup for ride apps (like Uber and Lyft), taxis and private car services is located in the Shuttle Lot South. This lot is located to the south of the terminal and can be accessed by complimentary airport parking shuttle or an approximate 10-minute walk.
🚌LOOKING FOR THE SHUTTLE? There are two shuttle stop locations for the AVL Parking Shuttle (which services all of the lots): at the north end of the terminal near the new ticket lobby and TSA checkpoint and at the south end of the terminal past baggage claim. Hotel airport shuttles pick up at the south end of the terminal across from baggage claim (near the parking garage). Be sure to contact your hotel to make sure they offer airport shuttle service.
🪪 REAL ID: Don’t forget that you will need a REAL ID-compliant driver’s license or other acceptable form of ID (like a passport) at the security checkpoint. Visit tsa.gov for more information.
📱FLIGHT STATUS: Keep an eye on your flight status by downloading your airline’s app or checking directly on your airline’s website. Be conscious of any delays, gate changes or other updates.
