Asheville Regional Airport announces Place & Time: An Art in the Airport exhibition celebrating Western North Carolina

Asheville Regional Airport (AVL) announces the opening of Place & Time, the new Art in the Airport exhibition featuring eight regional artists selected from more than 120 applicants across Western North Carolina. The exhibition is on display now through August 4, 2026.

The process of curating this new exhibit was inspiring. “The quality of the submissions were extraordinary,” said Alexandra Ingle, curator of the Art in the Airport program. “I am always deeply impressed by the incredible talent this region is fortunate to call its own.”

A common thread runs through the selected works. Each piece speaks to a specific place and time, drawing attention to past, present and future, and together celebrating the natural beauty of the region and the idea of capturing a fleeting moment in time.

The exhibit takes its name from a theme that surfaced during the curation process. “When I began reviewing submissions, I wasn’t looking for a title. I was looking for resonance,” Ingle said. “As the selections came together, it became clear each piece was in conversation with where we are and when we are. Place & Time felt like the only authentic name for it.”

Place & Time is on display in AVL’s new art gallery, which opened in June 2025 in the new North Concourse.

The eight artists featured in Place & Time represent a range of mediums:
•    Christa Capua, digital collage
•    Marcia Moore, reclaimed bike tire sculptures
•    Erik Mace, photography (archival pigment print)
•    Martin Pasco, acrylic and oil landscapes
•    Jeff Kinzel, foil on canvas
•    Kevin Andrew, acrylic and marker
•    Maddison Graybill, ceramics
•    Deb Williams, kiln-formed glass

Place & Time is on display in the AVL terminal through August 4, 2026. Travelers interested in purchasing featured works may contact art@flyavl.com.
